The weekend`s PSL previews

SATURDAY

Bidvest Wits v Black Aces - Bidvest Stadium (KO 15:30)

Roger de Sa's side have blasted their way up the table thanks to a three-match winning streak, which makes them the hot favourites to dispose of the league's bottom club. In team news, the Clever Boys welcome Derrick Spencer back from a ban but Thando Mngomeni and Sipho Mngomezulu are unavailable because they have totted up three yellow cards apiece.

Paul Dolezar is without the services of Lindo Mbatha (injury) and Benedict Vilakazi (suspension), while Marawaan Bantam, Shakes Ngwenya and TK Masondo are in contention after resuming training. Fabian McCarthy and Thabang Rooi also return from respective bans and Gordon Gilbert could come into the fold after joining the club in midweek.

Free State Stars v Mamelodi Sundowns - Peter Mokaba Stadium (KO 15:30)

Steve Komphela's charges will call Polokwane home this weekend as they face title contenders Mamelodi Sundowns. Ea Lla Koto are boosted by the availability of Ayanda Gcaba and Siyabonga Mdluli but they will nonetheless be wary of facing an unpredictable Brazilians outfit.

Their caretaker boss, Ian Gorowa, has the thankless task of maintaining the club's fading challenge for the championship, but he received a fillip in midweek when Katlego Mphela ended his self-imposed exile and returned to training. However, the form of Nyasha Mushekwi and Mabhuti Khenyeza means the South African striker is far from assured of a starting berth, although he has been included in the 18-man matchday squad. In other news from Chloorkop, Lebohang Mokoena is out with a serious hamstring injury that is likely to leave him sidelined for six weeks.

Platinum Stars v Bloem Celtic - Moruleng Stadium (KO 15:30)

Midtable Dikwena are stalemate specialists having drawn nine of their 20 fixtures this season. Bloem Celtic - fifth in the league - have played to eight draws, so the bookmakers are likely to favour a deadlock in this encounter.

For Stars, Edward Williams and Almiro Lobo are available while Phunya Sele Sele can call upon Thabo Hlela, who returns following suspension.

Henrico Botes, Mbhuyiselo Sambu and Solomon Mathe are serving one-match bans.

SuperSport United v Maritzburg Utd (KO 18:00)

SuperSport United and Maritzburg United are desperate for maximum points as the threat of relegation looms large for both parties.

Matsatsantsa are a position above the visitors to Loftus Stadium in 13th spot - a stark contrast from the past three seasons where they have been the PSL pacesetters.

Tebogo Langerman is expected to miss the clash through injury, but Kermit Erasmus has returned to training following a respiratory tract infection.

Glen Salmon is also back in training following a lengthy lay-off, but the fixture comes too soon for him.

The Team of Choice have no reported absentees.

Vasco Da Gama v Ajax Cape Town (KO 20:15)

Vasco da Gama want to build on a 1-0 victory over Mpumalanga Black Aces when they tussle with Ajax in the Cape derby.

The PSL rookies were hit for six by BidVest Wits before claiming a win over Paul Dolezar's men - and want to make sure they continue picking up maximum points.

The Urban Warriors will want to make it two derby wins out of two after an epic 4-3 triumph over Santos, despite going down 10 men.

Thulani Hlatshwayo will be suspended for test with Vasco, but captain Brett Evans could feature off the bench after recovering from injury.

Vasco have Dirang Moloi suspended for this encounter.

SUNDAY

Orlando Pirates v AmaZulu (KO 15:30)

Orlando Pirates will expect to increase their lead at the PSL summit when AmaZulu make the trip to Soweto on Sunday.

Bucs are two points clear at the top of the table and with second-placed Kaizer Chiefs up next on the menu, Ruud Krol's men are determined to walk away with all three points.

They boys have Parktown have a number of concerns though. Tlou Segolela begins a two-match suspension, while Mark Mayambela is sidelined with a knee injury.

Midfield maestro Andile Jali will be handed a late fitness test to determine whether he has recovered from a hamstring strain.

AmaZulu, meanwhile are boosted by the return of their lethal strike duo Lehlehonolo Majoro and Tangeni Shipahu. who sat out the last game against Platinum Stars a fortnight ago due to suspension

Midfielder Thabo Mabaso has been released from his contract with Usuthu.

Santos v Kaizer Chiefs (KO 15:30)

Santos will once again aim to get the better of Kaizer Chiefs ahead of a Soweto derby when the sides meet at Athlone Stadium.

Before securing a 3-1 victory over their arch-rivals Orlando Pirates last year, Amakhosi suffered a 1-0 defeat to the People's Team.

And with Chiefs facing Bucs again next week, Boebie Solomons will be hoping the black and gold once again have a massive lapse in concentration.

Santos not managed to win in the last four games, which has included three straight losses. Tyren Arendse is the only absentee for the hosts through suspension.

Amakhosi are without Mthkozisi Yende and Dominic Isaacs due to a one-match ban for totting up yellow cards, but Knowledge Musona returns from serving the same sentence.

Chiefs are just two points away from Pirates at the PSL summit and will want to keep the pressure on their foes.
